JOB SUMMARY, DESCRIPTION & QUALIFICATIONS:
Job Summary
Individual will work closely with students to provide exceptional customer service in financial aid advising, along with coordinating, verifying, and review and packaging of student awards.
Note: Typical schedule will be Monday through Friday, with the standard workweek for a full-time hourly employee consisting of 40 hours. Full-time employees work an 8-hour day with staff scheduled to meet the hours of operation for the Financial Aid Office: 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. (Monday – Thursday) and Fridays 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. While these hours are typical, they may be subject to change as workload and needs of our customers and work areas change.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
The following duties are primarily performed and are essential for this position. Employees are expected to be able to perform each of these job duties satisfactorily and successfully with or without reasonable accommodations.
Assist in the department’s major initiatives for process improvement in the financial aid area; providing regular reports, analysis of data, and make recommendations for improvements
Coordinate and perform verification, review and packaging of student awards
Assist in designing/testing business processes and/or modifications to maximize staff and system efficiencies.
Make professional judgments regarding appeals and special financial circumstances
Assist in processing Higher Education Aids Board programs and other state programs
Recommend and help implementing modifications to financial aid computer software (PeopleSoft, WorkDay, EDExpress)
Coordinate and provide training for frontline staff on main campus as well as regions
Provide Financial Aid advising for students, staff, and community members
Provide information and education to the general public about financial aid, through College Goal WI, Career Days, and Workshops
Responsible for the reconciliation of federal and state revenue/expense accounts and preparing for audit with auditing agency and Financial Services
Participate in professional growth activities appropriate to position
Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications Required
In limited circumstances, NTC may consider a combination of education, training, and experience which provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of this position.
Education: Bachelor's Degree
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, or related field.
Experience: 1 Year
Additional Experience Information:
Previous experience with account reconciliation preferred.
Ability to interpret and apply laws, rules, and policies affecting financial aid.
Excellent communication skills, strong technical skills, attention to detail.
Experience with Peoplesoft and WorkDay preferred.
Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
